Rink Update
To open an outdoor skating rink, several conditions must be met to ensure the ice is safe and suitable for skating:
Temperature: Consistent cold weather is essential. The ideal temperature for ice formation is below -5°C, though temperatures between -5°C to -10°C are best for building solid, durable ice.
Ice Thickness: The ice needs to be at least 4 inches thick to be safe for skating. This thickness ensures the ice can support the weight of skaters without cracking.
Clear Skies and Calm Weather: Clear skies and low wind speeds help maintain steady freezing conditions. Snow and high winds can prevent the ice from forming evenly.
Due to ongoing weather conditions, including fluctuating temperatures and lack of consistent freezing, the rinks have not yet reached the necessary conditions for safe use.
We understand the excitement of outdoor skating and appreciate your patience as we continue to monitor the situation. Please stay tuned for further updates, and we will notify you when the rinks are ready to open
Thank you for your understanding!
